The nearest train station is Oxenholme Lake District. There will be taxis available, however it is a 15 – 20 minute journey to Acre Wood Barn.
Finding us: Driving from the M6
Leave the M6 at Junction 36, taking the third exit following the sign to Kirkby Lonsdale A65. At the second roundabout, take the second exit, continuing the A65 to Kirkby Lonsdale. Travel on the A65 for 4.5 miles, about 5 – 10 minutes. Take the left hand turn onto Hophouse Lane, following the sign to Old Town, and follow the road until you reach the B6254. At this T junction, take the left-hand turn, following the road until you reach Old Town (look out for the Old Town sign). Take the first right hand turn heading down the hill, the road will turn to the left at the Old School House. Past the Old School House on your right, Acre Wood Barn is the first house on the left.
If travelling South on the M6, the directions may suggest leaving at Junction 37 which takes you on the Old Scotch Road. This road is single lane and not always well maintained so can have lots of potholes. Taking Junction 36 is recommended as you are on main roads for most of the drive.
Finding us: Driving from the A65 heading West through Kirkby Lonsdale
Travelling West on the A65, follow signs to Kirkby Lonsdale. As you pass alongside Kirkby Lonsdale, take the second exit past the Booths sign into Kirkby Lonsdale. Drive past Booths and to the T junction where you take a left up the hill. The road will curve to the right back down the hill through Mitchelgate. It is a single lane and is sometimes narrowed by cars, so please do take care if travelling in a wide vehicle. At the bottom of Mitchelgate, take the left past the Church gates as the road curves right and out of town. As you leave town, the road becomes the B6254. Follow this road into Old Town (look out for the Old Town sign). Take the first right hand turn heading down the hill, the road will turn to the left at the Old School House. Past the Old School House on your right, Acre Wood Barn is the first house on the left.
